Food, Days Out and Travel stories from Brighton, London and the Rest of the World

Days Away - England's Medieval Festival at Herstmonceux

Glorious sunshine, medieval living history, archery lessons and a castle setting. With lots to keep us entertained in the sunny Sussex countryside, it was a great way to spend the August Bank holiday weekend.

Foodie Friday - Lucky Beach Burgers

Phenomenal. That's what I thought of the burgers at Lucky Beach and that's the word I kept saying to myself while shaking my head and scoffing the burger I had in front of me.

Days Out near London - Chatham Dockyard's Salute to the 40's

As a lover of vintage and great days out, Salute to the 40's in Chatham seems made just for me; with swing dancing, a Spitfire aircraft display, plus a chance to have a vintage makeover, it sounds lots of fun.

Vintage Days Out - Fun at the Firle Vintage Fair

Hard to believe the Firle Vintage Fair is only in its fourth year, it's huge and already feels well established.

Days Away in Surrey - A Mercure Summer Stay and Picnic

I knew Box Hill from my past. As a teen when my head was full of poems by John Keats and stories by Jane Austen, I'd drive past the Burford Bridge quite often. So when I discovered recently the hotel's literary connections my mouth fell to the floor.
