Midnight screening of Daft Punk's film Interstella 5555: 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem this Friday 10 May 2013

~  A couple of weeks ago a new face, Claire Lam Pham appeared at a Brighton Writer's meet up and as it turns out is another massive fan of Daft Punk's Discovery album.

Discovery by Daft Punk is probably my favourite album of all time, I realise this is a big statement, but I really have listened to this album on repeat for years.

After the meet up Claire contacted us to invite us to the midnight screening of Daft Punk's film, Interstella 5555: 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem on Friday 10 May 2013, so I had to find out more.

Taking place at the Caroline of Brunswick pub, 39 Ditchling Rd, Brighton, BN1 4SB (just off the London Road and opposite the Level), tickets are £3 on the door.

Interstella 5555
Hi Claire, can I just check with you that the event is to watch the feature length version of the film?
Yes, it sure is!

What time does it end?
Running time is 65 minutes so it should end just after 1am.

What interested you in screening the film?
I am obsessed with Daft Punk's Discovery album.  Interstella 5555 is a feature-length music video for the album. The two are a match made in heaven! It's not a well known film and I really wanted make some noise for the film and celebrate its 10th year anniversary since its original release in 2003. It went straight to DVD release so it really didn't get much exposure, which is a real shame because it is a cinematic experience. So that was the driving force behind the film screening.

How many times have you seen it?
I've only seen it a handful of times but I listen to Discovery once a week (at least!) and the film plays in my mind. I know, I'm mad!

Is this the first time you have done a pop-up screening?
Yes, and I plan to do another one soon.

Have you organised this with anyone else?
No, just me. It was a mission to get a screening license for the film but worth it!

Plot Synopsis from IMDb
A continuation of the story told in the Daft Punk music videos "One More Time," "Aerodynamic," "Digital Love," and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger."
An unscrupulous music executive and his flunky kidnap an alien, blue-skinned techno band, rob them of their identities, pass them off as human, and foist them on an unsuspecting public on Earth. After their arrival and their impact on the human population, the members of the band try to piece back their identities, escape from the clutches of the evil music executive, and return to their own world.
