Perfect for flat living where space is at a premium plus it's so much more personal and brings with it a great deal of satisfaction.
The original inspiration came from a picture I found in a catalogue.
I took a photo of the picture and sent it to my own personal D and T expert, my mother (I knew I didn't have the crafting skills to do this on my own) and asked if she'd be interested in trying to make this with me.

Step 2 Draw to scale a template. I used packing paper that I had rolled up at home and held it to the wall so that I could mark dots on it for approximate height and width I wanted it to be.
Step 3 Collect some twigs, twine, mini baubles and fairy lights.
Step 4 On a large surface, lay out the template and draw lines to connect the dots. Then, measure horizontal lines roughly the same distance apart up the Christmas tree shape.
Step 5 Place the twigs on the template, thicker ones at the bottom and mark where you want to cut them to create the right Christmas tree shape. Cut / saw the twigs to size and place back on the template.
Step 6 Measure out enough twine to secure one side, then measure out the same length for the other side. Fold the twine in half and take the looped end and tie around the bottom twig, secure with two knots. Do the same on the other side and work your way up, using the template as a guide to make sure enough twine is left between each twig to create the shape you want on the template.
Step 7 Wrap fairy lights around the twigs.
Step 8 Hang the Christmas Tree wall hanging from a picture hook and test the lights.
Step 9 Decorate with mini baubles and a star.
Step 10 Take a pic for Instagram and use hashtag #ChristmasTreeWallHanging, add a cat and you can also use the hashtag #CatsOfInsta.
OK, so I'm not expecting anyone to really follow this through but I do hope you enjoyed my crafty Christmas show and tell.
Seasons Greetings
