There are lots of reasons to get excited about this Brit-States fusion from their ethical credentials, their family values (lots of love for their mum / nan), bespoke milkshakes, desserts by the slab, freelance friendly wifi space, oh yes and some gourmet doughnuts.
Run by a family team, the business was set up about six years ago by mum (creative baker) Lindsay, dad (head of operations) Trevor and son Jeremy (managing director) who began by supplying produce to some big airlines. Now expanding their wings by taking Raise local, they're committed to supporting local suppliers, using free range eggs and organic produce whenever they can. They also make sure their products are free from preservatives, artificial flavours and colours, as well as steering clear of hydrogenated fats and oils, which are all great selling points for me.
Baking all their products from scratch in Worthing, their flour comes from Glynde and are created by Lindsay who gained her passion for baking from her mum Margie when she was growing up.
The range on sale includes gourmet doughnuts, ice cream sandwiches, brownies and ‘create your own’ milkshakes, with gluten free, vegan and healthier options available.
On opening night while trying out the sweet treats on offer and eyeing up the triple choc doughnut I found out more about their bespoke milkshakes. You can choose any item in store from the doughnuts, brownies or cupcakes and have it blended into a milkshake. A return visit from Kemptown village to Hove central is currently being planned so that I can try this out for myself. Tweets and Instagramming highly likely.
I also found out from their Uncle Simon over from the states and heavily involved in the gourmet doughnut testing that they too have family in Westport, CT. Apparently there's a famous, traditional doughnut store there that I'll have to try when I go back over there, called ambiguously the Coffee An' Donut Shop.

The store is freelancer friendly providing power points and superfast broadband, as well as a community workspace with a bookable meeting and workshop on offer.
