Eighty-Four Films for Free on the Big Screen at Brighton Beach - August 2013

Starting this Tuesday 30 July and continuing on til Monday 26 August 2013, if the weather stays kind to us, we can look forward to a month of grabbing a few tinnies and hitting the beach for free films and live performances. 

With a selection of 84 old and new films, they are a happy band of good ole favourites such as Top Gun, Quadrophenia and Anchorman as well some new must-sees, like The Stone Roses: Made of Stone and A Field in England. 

Brighton's Big Screen 2012 

Appearing only once on the schedule and immediately preceded at 7 pm by Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Bootique 5, Dukes on the Beach presents, The Stone Roses: Made of Stone at 8:30 pm on Sunday 11 August.  If like me you don't want to miss out, you can supersize the experience and pre book tickets to the VIP grandstand to ensure seating, high quality audio, free popcorn and access to the licensed bar and refreshment area. Another highlight will be during the Bank Holiday weekend, Sunday 25 August when there will be a screening of Quadrophenia and a special showcase performance of All or Nothing, the MOD Musical, a brand new musical based on the quintessential Mod band, the Small Faces. 

Located at the right end of town (depending on where you're standing), the Big Screen will take up residence beside the Big Wheel and Brighton Pier.

Screened on a huge 40 sqms, Big Screen will also broadcast The Ashes, the World Athletics Championships and Formula 1. 

While during the day the Kids Scene begins at 10 am and will show the Disney favourites UP, Finding Nemo, Shark Tale and Ratatouille as well as CBeebies. 

Other films to look out for are Life of Pi, Les Miserables, The Hobbit and Oblivion along with movie classics like, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Grease, Brighton Rock and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
