I've never known anticipation like it, there has been such a buzz of excitement in the run up to the opening of this restaurant in Brighton. Within the first month, my glamorous friend had made two reservations and my neighbour was trying to decide whether to go for a 12:30 pm or 3:30 pm reservation and that's just for starters.
Neither am I immune to the Ivy Brasserie charm and share with glee the photos I took of this lady friendly brunch venue. Headline options for me were the coconut yoghurt with berries, avocado with pumpkin seeds and hot buttermilk pancakes with a warm strawberry sauce.
Inside the very centrally located Ivy on Ship Street, Brighton, formerly the Old Post Office is now a profusion of colour, mirrors, gold and general sparkle. As my glam friend said, "It's what Brighton's been waiting for." And that's true, to a certain extent, our fine dining in Brighton up to now has tended to be rather more pared down and subdued, so this glitz is really offering a new proposition.
At the Ivy in Brighton, there's a huge dining area around a central bar and room for all.
Brunch
As you may have already picked up on MBB, brunch is truly a joy to me. I love fresh juices, pastries, flat whites, berries, pancakes, avocado and eggs royale in abundance.
We began with a Green Juice that was made with blended avocado, mint, celery, spinach, apple and parsley, which was a fabulous way to super boost the morning.
Hot buttermilk pancakes were served with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, Greek yoghurt, lemon balm and warm strawberry sauce. Gutted I didn't try this although I'm happy to have a solid reason to return for research purposes.
I missed the pancakes because I was keen to try the avocado with tomato and sesame. The toasted granary bread with sesame dressing didn't work for me but another Bruncher at my table loved the sauce so I'd put this difference purely down to preference.
The Eggs Benedict came served in a buttery hollandaise sauce, so it's a very rich dish option.
Finally, worth a mention is the Coconut Yoghurt with berries, crushed pistachio, chia seeds and basil. This is spot on trend and is vegan friendly and packed with delicious nutrients we all need.
All the brunch options appealed to me and I think they're going to go down a storm.
That's it for my latest brunch blog post, except of course to share with you about what all the ladies were talking about, the toilets. Take your camera #thatsall
With thanks to the Ivy for my Blogger Brunch, my views are my own.
