I'm so excited about this foodie event that I'm sharing it less than 24 hours after the details were announced. We've only got two weeks notice but that shouldn't stop us from finding time to visit at least one of the great places on the list.
Voted for by a panel of local food experts, the top twenty list is comprised of restaurants such as Riddle and Finn that have been causing a stir for a while and others like Fourth and Church that have only recently opened. Covering a diverse selection of cuisine, there is Japanese, Indian, French, vegetarian, Italian, fish and pizza to choose from. The Top 20 includes many MBB favourites such as Plateau, Isaac at, the Chilli Pickle, Curry Leaf Cafe and Fatto a Mano.
A particular highlight looks set to be the Great British menu from chef Michael Bremner at his flagship restaurant 64 Degrees. He'll be making his dish ‘The Grass is Greener’ of braised ox tongue served with grass-cooked potatoes and served with a glass of Phantom red wine. Another tempting menu comes from the Italian Cin Cin which includes reginelle, a type of pasta rarely served in the UK, with squash, wild mushrooms and sage. While Fourth and Church are matching three glasses from their extensive list with three courses, one of which will be red wine-braised ox cheek, smoked parsnip and cultured leeks.
In fact, it would be easy for me work through the whole list and be equally enthused about every single entry. So instead I'm just going to ask you to click on this link to go to October Best's website to find a full list of the £20 menus for yourself.
It's a great way to try out some new restaurants or revisit some old favourites for some new flavours.
One final point worth mentioning, certain restrictions apply so check days and times of the offers before planning where you want to go.
Happy Dining
