Edendum - eating in Brighton

Exciting foodie news, in just a few days time, 5th August, a new Italian restaurant, cafe and shop will be opening on the famous East Street (the street where the fight scene from Quadrophenia took place).

Already a popular spot for successful restaurants, East Street is home to both the award winning Indian Summer and Terre a Terre.

Edendum joins these foodie favourites to offer us Brits some unfamiliar, yet truly traditional Italian dishes to discover.

Owners Lorenza and Diego Cacciolatti with their roots in Northern Italy, Lorenza from Milan and Diego the Piedmont region, want to introduce us to some new flavours.

Look out for the less well-known yet authentically Italian bites such as slightly rare beef with tuna sauce (Magatello di manzo al punto rosa con salsa tonnata) and fried home-made bread dough (Gnocco fritto).

Alongside these you can expect to find the more familiar, such as pizza and tiramisu. Head chef Giancarlo Ghibaudo adds his own Neapolitan roots into the mix and blends this with experience he has gained of Italian cuisine from right across Italy.

The name itself, Edendum means eating in Latin and this is where you can go for dinner or just coffee and pastries as well as to shop for products to take home. Whatever suits you, all of it, they promise will be 100% Italian.

Lorenza and Diego are passionate about fresh and seasonal ingredients with no added preservatives, as well as offering an authentic food experience. I've nabbed my first Edendum takeaway with a jar of artichoke and garlic sauce to start spreading my own edendum experience.
